Janice Earlene Valenti, 80, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2022. She was born to the late Earl Young and Martha Young (nee Linder) on June 10, 1941. She was married to the love of her life, and high school sweetheart, Jerry Paul Valenti.
Janice was a strong, self-sufficient woman who worked hard at everything she did. In her career, Janice was a bookkeeper and office manager for a local law firm. She was very intelligent and excelled at anything she put her mind to. She worked outside the home well into her 70’s.
Janice had an incredible heart. She was a caregiver to those who loved her and played a huge role in the lives of others. She became a widow after nearly 30 years of marriage at the age of 51. As a result, Janice raised her youngest son through his formative years by herself and later provided significant care for her oldest grandson.
She had a passion for cooking and baking. To fulfill this passion, she routinely collected recipe books, watched cooking shows, and practiced her skills. Her family reaped the rewards of this passion and were especially happy whenever she baked a cake for a wedding or a reception because they knew they would be the lucky recipients of any cooking “scraps.”
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Jerry; and brother, Michael Young. She is survived by her children: Paul (Jan) Valenti; Jeffrey (Jenifer) Valenti; and Kevin (Melissa) Valenti; grandchildren: Jordan, Jackson, Nicolas, Joey, Anna, and Matthew; sister-in-laws: Ruthie Young, Marilyn Montague, and Lisa Lefkovitz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Private services will be for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to your charity of choice in honor of Janice.
