Jennie Viola Smithee

February 8, 1924 — July 7, 2021

Jennie Viola (Waters) Smithee was born on February 8, 1924 in Kearney, Mo and died July 7, 2021 in Kansas City, Mo.   Visitation will be 1-2pm Monday, July 12 at Terrace Park Funeral Home, with services to follow at 2pm.  Burial will take place at Terrace Park Cemetery.

Viola was the daughter of Grover Cleveland Waters and Bertha Mable (Taylor) Waters Parks.  She married Harce Lee Smithee on February 3, 1939 in Liberty, Mo.  He preceded her in death on June 2, 1998.

Viola worked at National Bella Hess for 12 years, Whitaker Cable Company for 13 years, and Cliff Manor Nursing Home for 14 years, finally retiring at the age of 76 years young.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Viola was preceded in death by three brothers:  James Daniel Waters, Charles William Waters, and Grover Phillip Waters.  She is survived by her daughter, Leveda Whitaker (husband Gene) of Sedalia, Mo.; a son, Jerry Smithee of Smithville, Mo.; two grandchildren, Pamela Smyth of Timonium, Md., and Dusty Smithee (wife Maggie) of Smithville, Mo.; and five great grandchildren:  Samantha Smyth, Sean Smyth, and Riley Smyth, all of Timonium, Md., and Kale Smithee and Reid Smithee of Smithville, Mo.
