Obituary

Jimmie Franklin LaFollette, born on October 25, 1950, passed away on August 1, 2026. His life was defined by hard work, faith, and devoted love for his family and community.

Jimmie’s journey began when he graduated from Oak Park High School in 1969, setting the stage for a life filled with dedication and service. Shortly after high school, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country proudly from 1969 to 1973. His years of military service were marked by commitment and honor.

In January of 1972, Jimmie married Mary, and together they shared many years of unwavering devotion. Their relationship was a source of constant joy, with both often referring to the other as a true gift from God. The love they shared stood as a cornerstone of Jimmie’s life.

After his military service, Jimmie began working for Certain Teed in 1974. He remained a dedicated and hardworking employee until his retirement in 2009. Proud of his work and his role as a Union Teamster, Jimmie’s career reflected his steadfast nature and earned the respect of his colleagues.

Jimmie’s faith in Christ was a central thread throughout his life. He was known for leading worship at his church, where he played both the piano and guitar. His contributions to his faith community made a lasting impression on all who knew him. A man of great faith, Jimmie was faithful in his walk with Christ.

Above all, Jimmie’s proudest accomplishments were found within his own family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joys came from nurturing and supporting those he loved.

Jimmie’s life will be honored on August 15, 2026, at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 801 NW 108th St, Kansas City, MO 64155. A memorial gathering will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at 12:45 p.m.
