John Thomas Cameron

March 22, 1934 — October 28, 2023

John Thomas Cameron, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, and friend, passed away on October 28, 2023. Born on March 22, 1934, in Yonkers, New York, John led a life filled with love, laughter, and meaningful connections. As a young man, he served his country with pride and dedication as a military police officer in the Army. Following his military service, John embarked on a career in human resources. His unwavering compassion and innate understanding of people allowed him to thrive in this field. Throughout his professional journey, he positively impacted the lives of countless individuals as he guided them toward fulfilling careers and helped resolve conflicts with empathy and fairness. However, John's true fulfillment came from the love he found in Barbara Staib, whom he had known since second grade. On January 3, 1959, they exchanged vows and began their incredible journey together. Their marriage became a testament to devotion and stood as an inspiration for those fortunate enough to witness it. During his time living in New York City, John forged deep connections with a close-knit group of friends with whom he shared many treasured moments. Together they played cards, engaged in friendly softball competitions, and enjoyed spirited bowling nights. These friendships brought immense joy into his life and remained steadfast even as the years went by. In their forties, John and Barbara made the decision to relocate to Missouri where they put down roots and surrounded themselves with family. They took delight in attending their children's athletic events, cheering them on from the sidelines with overflowing pride. The simple pleasure of going for walks with their dog brought them immeasurable happiness as they savored each other's company amidst the beauty of nature. Family meant the world to John, and his unconditional love extended to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elsie Cameron; as well as his son: John Phillips Cameron, and sister: Gloria Kelly.

Surviving John is his beloved wife: Barbara Staib; children: Victoria (Timothy) Carey, Steve Cameron, and David (Carey) Cameron; grandchildren: Sarah, Cameron, T.J., Emily, Christopher, Melaina, Sydney, Olivia, Angel, and Chloe; and great grandchildren: Dominic, Kayla, Bella, and Caroline. In our hearts and minds, John Thomas Cameron will forever remain an embodiment of love and compassion. His ability to connect on a profound level with all those he encountered is a testament to the impact he made during his time on earth. As we mourn his loss together as a community of family and friends who cherished him dearly, let us also celebrate the incredible life that he lived and honor the everlasting legacy he leaves behind.
