John W. Fuehring

February 19, 1942 — October 11, 2025

John was born to Herbert and Eunice Fuehring February 19, 1942 in Emma, MO. He attended Holy Cross Lutheran School and Sweet Springs High School where he enjoyed running track and playing basketball. He graduated from Central Missouri State University and then joined the Air Force Reserves as Security Police. After a brief stint at TWA, he became an auditor for Sentry Insurance Company. While living in Kansas City, he met his wife Joyce Lockhart. They were married on June 8, 1968, where he would affectionately be referred to as ‘Johnny’ for the next 57 years. Soon after, he went to work for Farmland Industries for the remainder of his career. They were transferred to Florida and adopted 2 sons, Brett and Drew. While members of Calvary Baptist Church in Winter Haven, FL, John became a Deacon and also worked closely with the youth group. While working for Farmland, he also attended Florida Southern University, earning his MBA. John and his family lived in Florida for 17 years and were eventually transferred back to Kansas City. He continued working for Farmland Industries in KC and retired in 2004. In December of that year he joined Gideons International. It became his passion and he loved spreading God’s word. He had a boldness when distributing Bibles in hotels, schools, colleges, and witnessing to just about anyone that came into his life. He loved visiting Pastors and praying for them and their church. He was a wonderful husband, Dad, Papa, Uncle John, and brother. He loved his family and friends but above all he loved Jesus.

1 Peter 1:3-9

- Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.

John is survived by his wife, Joyce Fuehring, son Brett Fuehring (Renee), grandchildren, Grace Fuehring Siegrist (Clay), Noah Fuehring, Jonah Fuehring, son, Drew Fuehring (Candice), grandchildren Colt Fuehring, Abby, Bryce, and Kade (Lehner), sister Karen Pragman (Bill) of Lee’s Summit, MO, sister, Linda Nielsen (Jim) of Sunrise Beach, MO and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
