John "Jay" N. Weatherly Jr., passed on March 1, 2026. Jay was born on September 19, 1943 in Chillicothe, MO to John Sr. and Joyce Weatherly. He graduated from NKC High School in 1962. At age 14, Jay began working in the grocery industry at Williams U.S. Super, he became head meat cutter, later store manager and eventually bought a store and named it Jay's Foods. Jay went to work for Associative Wholesale Groceries and later worked for Scherzer and Associates. Jay married the love of his life, Lyn, on December 7, 1973 and together they raised five children. Jay was a hard worker. If something needed fixing, he fixed it. He did all the work needed around the home - paint, wallpaper, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical. He enjoyed having a project always. Jay loved spending time with his family and was a proud "Papa". He also loved animals and always had a dog. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, John N. Weatherly, Sr. and Joyce Weatherly and his sister, Carol Evans. Jay is remembered with great affection by his wife of 52 years, Lyn Weatherly; five children, John Weatherly III, Janice (Kent) Ballard, Gary Weatherly, Terri (Pat) Dunn, Shelley (Tim) Reynolds and Brenda Weatherly; 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and his beloved, Shih Tzu, Lulu. Services will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Friday, March 6th, visitation at 1:00pm, funeral at 2:00pm, and burial following. Donations to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
