John Stewart

John Randolph Stewart, 73, passed away due to complications from Covid 19 on March 15, 2021 at North Kansas City Hospital. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 12:00-1:00PM, with services from 1:00-2:00PM and burial to follow immediately after the services, all at Terrace Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 801 NW 108th Street, Kansas City, Missouri.  Casual Dress is requested by the family.  Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Kansas City Police Care Fund or The Alzheimer’s Association.

John was born March 5, 1948, in Washington, DC to Michael William and Peggy Rose (Rivenbark) Stewart. He was raised by Robert H. Parker (stepfather) and mother, Peggy Rose Parker.  He graduated in 1966 from Radford High School, in Honolulu, Hawaii.  He joined the United States Air Force after graduation.  John met his wife Judy (Boyd) Stewart while stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in 1967, fell in love and married on November 22, 1969.  He was active duty in the Air Force for four years and in the reserves for 17 years.

John and Judy returned to Kansas City after leaving the Air Force. He graduated from Maple Woods Community College with an associate degree in Criminal Justice, started a family having two children and began his career as a Kansas City Police Officer.  After retiring as a Detective, he helped develop the Metro Meth Unit in 1998. He finally began his full retirement in 2012.

He spent many summers on camping vacations with family and close friends.

During his retirement he devoted more time to Fidelity Lodge 339, A. F. & A. M. He served in the position of Worshipful Master for the past two years.  He was also the commander for the AMVETS 181 (American Veterans Association).  He was a member of the Scottish Rite Temple, V.F.W., American Legion, and American Legion Riders.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Peggy Parker; father-in-law, Roger Boyd; mother-in-law, Maxine Boyd; sister-in-law, Carol Hakes; brother-in-law, Wayne Hakes; brother-in-law, Larry Baldwin; and nephew, Jake Wehmeyer.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; dogs, Maxie and Lulu; daughter, Jill Hacker (husband, Chris); daughter, Janel Corrie Giglio (husband, Larry); brother, Charles Stewart (wife, Gwyn); grandchildren: Antoinette Giglio, Larry Joe Giglio, Lily Hacker, John Hacker, Sophia Hacker, Anna Hacker, Joe Hacker, Charlotte (Charlie) Hacker; brother-in-law: Roger Boyd (wife, Dale); sisters-in-law: Lois Adams (husband, Wayne) and Carma Baldwin; aunts and uncles: Annie and Ernie Anson, and Joyce and Joe Jacobs; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
