Johnny R. Cruz of Kansas City, Missouri went home to be with the lord on June 15,2024. He was born January 30, 1947. Son of Charles and Delores Cruz. Johhny was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Virginia Cruz. They shared over 40 years of marriage before her passing. He cherished the many years they shared together. Johnny was a dedicated father and popo, finding immense joy in his role within his family. He treasured the time he spent with them, creating lasting memories with those he loved.
Johnny was proud to be a 4th degree Knights of Columbus. His passion for the Kansas City Chiefs was evident to all who knew him. In his earlier years, he hosted spirited Fourth of July gatherings for his family, creating traditions that will be fondly remembered.
Johnny had a love for good food, especially enjoying Nana’s tacos and going out for menudo with his nephews and brother. His friendly demeanor endeared him to everyone he met, he made friends easily and never knew a stranger. He was often referred to as “the mayor” because he knew everyone in his neighborhood and their business.
For many years, Johnny worked diligently at Lake City Ammunition, where his dedication and hard work left a lasting impact.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Delores Cruz, his beloved wife: Virginia Cruz, his son: Nick Cruz, and siblings: Carlos Cruz and Mona Carey. He is survived by his children: Bill (Crystal) Britton, Stephanie (Bob) Cahill, and Robin Stuteville. Johnny will be dearly missed by his 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and siblings: Andy Cruz, Petra Rangel, and Yoyo Floyd. As well as many nieces and nephews
His family and friends will always remember Johnny for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
