Karen Kay Kennedy was born January 14, 1941 near Omaha, Nebraska. She was the middle child of Lloyd and Hazel Denman. The family moved to a farm outside Bolckow, MO during Karen’s 8th year of school. She graduated from North Andrew High in 1959. Later she attended cosmetology school in St. Joseph, MO. This became her long-term occupation.
She married Ron Kennedy on September 4, 1964. Two daughters were born to them, Karmen and Christy. Karen worked outside the home, but it was her family that always came first. She was constantly cooking and caring for them. She also loved flowers which bloomed brightly on her patio and porch. She loved animals and had cats of her own, and often fed strays and neighborhood cats. One of her favorite jobs was dog-sitting for her grand-dogs, Bear and Chloe.
Karen will live on in the hearts of those who loved her; husband Ron, daughter Christy, grandchildren Justin (Joanna), Dylan (Sarah), Chase and Olivia, as well as sisters Patricia and Trudy, sister-in-law’s, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Karen lost her precious Karmen ten years ago to leukemia.
Ron and Karen were members of the First Christian Church in North Kansas City. After her retirement as a beautician, she did volunteer work at the church. She became a Christian as an adult and now rests in the arms of Jesus.
