Obituary

Keith Henry Simpson, 93, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026.

Keith was born on June 26, 1932, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to James Henry and Vivian Mary Simpson. During his early years, his family relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, where he was raised and educated, attending school from elementary through college. He earned his associate degree from St. Louis University.

Shortly thereafter, Keith enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his country and continuing his commitment in the reserves. Following his military service, he worked for American General Insurance before transitioning to the Internal Revenue Service as a tax auditor, a role that brought him to the Kansas City area, where he would make his home.

Keith had a deep love for travel and adventure. He visited all 50 states as well as Canada, often exploring the country by RV. As a seasonal “snowbird,” he formed many meaningful and lasting friendships along the way. Keith was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and an active, longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. Also, never one to sit still, he found great joy in fishing and cherished time spent at his lake house.

Keith is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dolores; brothers, Levon and Francis; his wives, Melba Jean (Hughey) and Rita A. (Day); sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Simpson; and step children, Allen Day and Pamela (Fox).

He is survived by his brother, Gary Simpson; children, Mark (Karen) Simpson, Mike (Donna) Simpson, Marilyn (Richard) Carlson, and Mitch (Sherree) Simpson; step children, Jerry (MaryAnn) Day, Bruce (Emily) Day, and Colleen (Jim) Hardy; along with 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; and many extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home. Visitation will be held in the main chapel, Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00pm, followed by visitation at the lakeside chapel on Tuesday, April 7th from 10:30am to 12:30pm. The Rosary will be prayed at 12:15pm, followed by the funeral service at 12:30pm. Service will conclude with military honors and a luncheon will follow.

In his final moments, Keith wanted his family to always know how deeply he loved them- Though death may have taken you away from us, it could never take away your memories. You will always be in our hearts in your own special place.

Rest in Peace with the Lord. We Love You.
