Larry Gene Jurgensen, age 76, of Kansas City, Missouri died peacefully at home on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025.
Larry graduated from Round Lake High School in 1967. After completing high school, he went on to serve his country for 2 years in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971.
Larry married the love of his life, Darleen Sachen, on May 8th, 1971, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN. After marrying they moved to Kansas City, Missouri where they raised 2 children together. Larry and Darleen shared a devoted 54 years of marriage, full of love and laughter.
Larry worked for International Paper for many years. He then went onto work at metro Park Warehouses, and for Price Chopper as a stocker. Larry enjoyed playing cards, camping, fishing, and taking family trips. He loved watching Westerns, Chiefs football, golf and nascar. Larry was a member of the Round Lake American Legion Post #461. Above all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Larry was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ in Kansas City where he enjoyed mowing the lawn as well as helping wherever the church needed. Larry had the true heart of a servant.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents Mansel and Irene Jurgensen; his brothers, Dale Jurgensen, and Stan Jurgensen; sister, Sharon Meyer; brothers-in-law’s, Bill Meyer, and David Schuman.
He is survived by his wife Darleen Jurgensen; son Troy Jurgensen; daughter, Sarah (John) Parker; grandchildren, Marie Parker, Emily Parker, Crystal (Bryce) Heady, and Devyn Jurgensen; great grandchildren, Kayden Parker, Lincoln and Harlow Heady; brother, David (Diane) Jurgensen; sister, Rosie Schumann; sister-in-law, Mindy Jurgensen, as well as many nieces and nephews and friends.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a Memorial gathering on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, beginning at 10:00 am. With a Memorial service beginning at 11:00 am., graveside following with military honors. Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW. 108th Street KC, Missouri.
