LaVaughn Weaver, 92, of Kansas City, MO peacefully passed away on January 11, 2020.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15th from 4:30pm-6:30pm, and funeral on Thursday January 16th at 11:00am, both at Barry Christian Church (1500 NW Barry Rd, Kansas City, MO 64155). Burial immediately following at Maple Hills Cemetery (2301 S 34th St, Kansas City, KS 66106). In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the church.
LaVaughn was born on August 17, 1927 in Kansas City, KS to Arthur and Charlotte Laird. She married her husband, Henry F. Weaver in September 1946 at the young age of 19. She began her journey of motherhood in August 1948 and raised four children. Being a stay-at-home mom, she was very involved in all of her children's different activities including being PTA President, Cubs Scout Den Leader and Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed her social life, which kept her calendar quite full. Ceramics, Red Hat Society, square dancing, church activities, bridge, and her card club group, were just some of the interests that kept her busy. LaVaughn traveled the world through TWA and enjoyed camping throughout the United States. She and Henry cherished their retirement in Mesa, AZ and the many wonderful friends they made. LaVaughn touched many lives throughout her 92 years and God blessed her family with an amazing mother and a beautiful woman. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 67 years, Henry Weaver; son, Noel Weaver; daughter, Cheryl Weaver; and sister, JoAnn Cochran. LaVaughn will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children; Terry (Christine Heatherman) Weaver, Kenneth (Roxie) Weaver, and Lisa (Michael) Kennedy; grandchildren, Lindsay Haight, Brett Weaver, Shane Kennedy, Michaela Kennedy, Shelbie Weaver, and Aaron Weaver; and great grandchildren, Weston and Andi Haight.
