La Vonne Jean Boor, passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 89.

La Vonne was born on December 12, 1936 and raised in Preston, Minnesota, where she grew up on her family’s dairy farm as the youngest of six children. Her early years on the farm helped shape her strong work ethic, love of family, and appreciation for the simple things in life.

Throughout her working years, La Vonne was dedicated to the food industry, where she spent 25 years working in the safety department, for Farmland Foods.

Beginning in the 1970s, La Vonne developed a deep passion for researching her family history. What began as an interest grew into a lifelong labor of love. She spent countless hours gathering stories, records, photographs, and information about her family and preserved her research in numerous books for generations to come.

She was a talented quilter and made numerous blankets for her family and friends. Above all else, La Vonne’s favorite thing in life was spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Kenneth Larson, Lois Northhouse, and Merlin Larson. Her husbands, John Carpenter, Lee Peterson, and Loren Boor.

She will be fondly remembered by her son, Brad Carpenter; grandchildren, Angie and Jesse Carpenter; great grandchild, Ana Carpenter; siblings, Dale Larson and Larrayne Tucker; and many extended family and friends.

A Celebration of La Vonne's Life will be held at Terrace Park Cemetery on Wednesday, August 26, with visitation from 5-6pm, followed by the funeral service at 6pm.
