Leona L. Moorman, born on February 10, 1932, in Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. Leona was a devoted individual who dedicated her life to nurturing her family and creating a loving home.
In January of 1952, Leona married Bernard, and together they cherished their lives, building a family surrounded by warmth and countless memories. Leona was a fierce advocate for her family, always involved, not only in the life of her child but also extending her kindness to other children in the neighborhood. Her giving nature and compassion significantly impacted those around her.
A passionate cook, Leona thoroughly enjoyed holiday gatherings, relishing the opportunity to prepare meals that catered to her family's tastes. She especially looked forward to cooking up whatever her son Phillip would bring home, whether fish or game, ensuring that her table was always a hub of love and togetherness.
Beyond her family duties, Leona had a vibrant personality that shone through her hobbies and interests. She found joy in playing bingo and cherished the friendships she made along the way. Leona’s kindness and spirited nature endeared her to many.
Leona L. Moorman will be remembered for her unwavering love, bright spirit, and the memories she created throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion and kindness that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Visitation will be held on November 14, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 801 NW 108th St, Kansas City, Missouri, 64155.
Leona is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Claire Risker; her loving husband Bernard C. Moorman; siblings, Walter Risker, Leonard Risker, Arthur Risker, Julia Fuentes, and Mary Connor.
She is survived by her son Wayne Phillip (Roxanne) Moorman; 3 grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, and loving friends.
