Lothar E. Wunnicke

Lothar Edgar Wunnicke, 90, passed away peacefully in his home on May 17, 2023, and will be laid to rest privately.

Lothar was born on August 30, 1932, in Germany. In 1954, he met the love of his life, Rosa Petsch. Lothar and Rosa married on July 26, 1954, and went on to have three daughters – Christina, Lydia, and Rosey. In 1958, they immigrated to the United States, speaking no English, with three small girls and a single trunk of belongings. Lothar later opened his own successful furniture restoration business, Edgar’s Furniture Studio. In 1991, Lothar retired and spent his time doing the things he enjoyed most – dancing with the Kansas City German Club’s special folkdance troupe, bowling, golfing, traveling, and spending time with family.

Lothar was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his beloved wife: Rosa; daughter: Christina Steger (Randy) of Lebanon, Tennessee; daughter: Lydia Perkins (David) of Kansas City; and daughter: Rosey Brown of Kansas City. Grandchildren include Brandy Ramirez (Rene), Daniel Steger, Lydia Landers (Jacob), Jennifer Wilson (Iain), David Perkins, Kristin Boggs, Rachel Perkins (Luke), Brad Perkins (Zoe), Aubrey Curry (Ryan), Sarah Batten (Simone), and Zach Brown. Surviving great grandchildren include Tristan Moreno, Lupe Moreno, Jacob Moreno, Tripp Landers, Sterling Wilson, Langston Wilson, Cortland Wilson, Henry Boggs, and Dante Buttinoni. He will be greatly missed and remembered for instilling in his family a strong work ethic, the importance of family, and the importance of education. His family is comforted in the knowledge that he is now united with loved ones who have passed before him and that he is in the presence of our Lord.
