Luanne Dodson

May 30, 1936 – March 31, 2023

Born in Detroit, MI, Luanne was the daughter of Oscar and Olive Korsnes. She graduated from Mackenzie High School and attended college in Detroit, Michigan. Following her associate degree from business school, she got married and started her family. In her younger years, when she wasn’t raising children, she enjoyed reading and entertaining and played bridge.   She was a realtor in her early years and eventually retired from banking. In retirement years, she enjoyed fishing and boating on Smithville Lake, listening to big band or country music, cross word puzzles, gardening, Chiefs football, NASCAR Racing and mentoring her seven children on life. Luanne was blessed to have visited with her children in multiple destinations throughout the country. She had a great personality and positive attitude, even into the later days of life, often causing her “care team” to laugh, although at times embarrassing her children. Throughout her entire life, she was always someone her children could talk to and lean on for support.

Luanne was preceded in death by her parents, and the love of her life, husband of 46 years, Gary Dodson. She is survived by her brother Nils Korsnes (Judy), Plymouth,MI.; as well as seven children: Pam Chambers (Chuck), Linda Hardin, Don Dodson (Jennifer), Nancy Holton (Lonnie), Kim Dodson Thoma (Jeff), Donna Salyer (Clay), Rachael Fair (Reggie).  She will also be missed by 21 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, two nephews, one niece and one great nephew.

Luanne had a remarkable life filled with joy, sorrow, laughter and everlasting love. 

A memorial service will take place Friday, 4/7/2023, 2:00 visitation, 2:30-4:00 services. at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108^th Street, Kansas City, MO 64155.
