Lyle Melton Reed, 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 19, 2023.

Lyle was born on August 7, 1931 in Eudora, Kansas. He was the second of eight children born to Raymond and May Reed. He spent his youth growing up in Warrensburg and then later his family relocated to the Kansas City area where he attended North Kansas City High School before being drafted into the United States Army. Lyle proudly received the rank of Colonel and was involved in the Korean War, where his primary role was that of retrieving the remains of fallen soldiers. After his honorable discharge he began his long career working as a tool and die maker. In 1951, Lyle married the love of his life, Eveyln Musselman, and from this marriage they were blessed with two children. They spent many years living in Versailles on their family farm, where they had an impressive gardening - growing blackberries, elderberries, gooseberries, tomatoes, and much more. Lyle was very skilled at construction. He had built one of the homes that his family had resided in; and worked on classic cars and tractors as well. Faith was always an important aspect in Lyle and Evelyn lives, and they were longtime members of Greater Life - Jesus Name Pentecostal Church.

Lyle is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Helen Hanks, Bob Reed, Dale Reed, and Loyd Reed; son-in-law, Charles Myers;  daughter-in-law, Carol Reed. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 71 years, Evelyn Reed; children, Raymond Reed and Pamela Myers; grandchildren, Paul Reed and Christina Myers; great grandchild, Thomas Reed; siblings, Jean McGowan, Sandy Dacon, and Don Reed.

Services will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Friday, September 22nd with visitation at 9am, funeral at 10am, and burial following. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Greater Life - Jesus Name Pentecostal Church.
