Obituary

Martha Suzanne Remen was called to be with her heavenly Father on September 9, 2026.

Suzanne was born on May 17, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri to Alfred and Hazel Vering.

Suzanne spent the years of her childhood living in a home in the southeast section of Kansas City. Lynne, her sister, was born on August 6, 1946. Dut to hard working parents, the home was filled with love, kindness, and security.

While at church camp, Suzanne asked Jesus to be her Lord and Savior on June 29, 1956. While her life had been good up to this year, she now had the assurance of eternal life beginning on the evening of June 29, 1956.

In 1957 the Vering family moved to a new home. Suzanne attended North Kansas City High School. During these years she was active in National Honor Society, school activities, and Young Life. The Lord continued to guide and direct Suzanne as in Young Life she received good Bible teaching. She had the privilege of being a camper and in college a counselor at a Young Life camp.

Suzanne attended Central Missouri State where she earned a degree in elementary education. She taught at Winnwood Elementary School where she worked with 4th, 5th, and 6th grade youngsters.

Upon receiving a graduate degree in reading instruction, she worked with children in several elementary schools. In 1972, Suzanne joined the staff at New Mark Junior High as a reading teacher. Her tenure at New Mark was personally and professionally rewarding. In June 1977 Suzanne received a Specialist degree from the University of Missouri Kansas City.

On July 30, 1997 Suzanne married Donald Remen. Don came with an added bonus of two sons, John and Bob. She considered it a God given privilege to have had an influence in their lives. She loved her new life with Don and his sons. The Lord took Don home on February 27, 2005. He loved Jesus and said that he would win whether he was taken to Heaven or healed on earth. John and Bob proved to be kind and loving stepsons. They brought joy and comfort to her life.

Following retirement from the North Kansas City School District, Suzanne had the privilege of traveling in other countries as well as to locations of note in the United States. As a season ticket holder of the Kansas City Chiefs she had the privilege of purchasing tickets to the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami, Florida. She and her good friend, Laurie Davenport, witnessed a Chiefs victory and experienced a memorable weekend. Suzanne had the privilege of participating in Bible Study Fellowship, Assistance League, church activities and precious experiences spent with friends who taught with her at New Mark.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Lynne, and her husband Don. She is survived by her stepsons Bob Remen and his wife Edwina in Concordia, Missouri, John Remen of Lancaster, California, cousins Mike, Debi, and Andrew DeLong of Tampa, Florida.

Because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Suzanne is spending eternity with her Lord and Savior. The best life is yet to come for those who know the Lord.
