Mary Jane Everett, 96, of Gower, Missouri died on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at the Gower Convalescent Center. She was born August 6, 1923, in Seattle, Washington to the late Ernest and Thelma (Smallwood) Waits.

Mary Jane grew up in Seattle and Victoria, British Columbia. She met William H. Everett, a Navy Pilot in San Francisco, CA. They were married in Rhode Island on May 7, 1945. They were blessed with two children, Noel Kathleen Curry and Steven Anthony Everett. They were members of Grace Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Virginia. They traveled the world in the Navy and settled in Kansas City upon Bill’s retirement from the service. Mary Jane was Bill’s partner in his service to his country by being his support system in all he did.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Laura Everett a nephew and 3 nieces in California. In Missouri she leaves behind her adopted family of many years, Drexel and Martha Findley and their children Pam, Jim, Jerry and their families and Goddaughter Amanda Bernard, friends and the caregivers and employees of Gower Convalescent Center.

In addition to her parents, Mary Jane is preceded in death by her husband, a retired Navy Captain, and both children, a daughter-in-law, Lana Everett and a nephew.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 2 PM at Terrace Park Cemetery, 801 NW 108th St. Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Charity of your Choice.  Share online condolences at
