Matthew H. Biesemeyer

August 19, 1960 — April 27, 2024

Matthew H. Biesemeyer, 63, of Overbrook, Kansas passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2024. He was born in North Kansas City, Missouri on August 19, 1960, to the late Howard Hugo and Mary Elizabeth (Buckley) Biesemeyer.

Matt's childhood on Weatherby Lake was a dream come true for an outdoor enthusiast like him. He practically lived in the water—swimming, canoeing, and fishing with family and friends. He even snagged the title of "Mr. Hercules" at the Weatherby Lake Carnival when he was just a toddler! After almost four decades with the Pipefitters Union, he hit the road as a trucker.  He loved seeing all the country's sights from the comfort of his cab.  While driving he dreamed about kayaking on the beautiful rivers and lakes he passed. Even when health issues slowed him down, he never lost his love for adventure.   He kept his mind sharp with reading and audio books, impressing everyone with his incredible memory and endless knowledge about all sorts of stuff.

He is survived by his sisters, Lyn Cheek and Laura (Chuck Farrell) Biesemeyer and other cousins, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Matt is preceded in death by his stepfather Bill Turnbaugh, brother Michael, brother-in-law Glynn Graham, and other aunts, uncles and friends.

A celebration of Matt and that of his mother’s will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Lyn’s house in Liberty. Everyone is encouraged to bring with you a story or memory to share with the family.
