Owen L. Hawks, 94, passed away August 11, 2021.

Owen was born on December 22, 1926 to Burton and Helen Hawks. He grew up and attended school in the New York community near Hamilton, MO. After high school he attended Chilicotte Business College. In 1945 he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served two years as a clerk in the Pacific Theatre. In the late 1940’s he moved to Kansas City. He found employment as a freight rate clerk for various offices, and retired in 1991. During his retirement, Owen enjoyed woodworking and seeing the world with his wife, Bobbie. They traveled from Fairbanks, Alaska to the southern tip of South America, to Cairo, Egypt, Hong Kong, Shanghai, China, St. Petersburg, Russia and many places in between.

Owen is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Burton. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 18 ½ years, Bobbie; daughters, Kristi Boyer and Karla Kopp; grandchildren, Meghan and Jacob Boyer and Chad, Kevin, Ben, and Kari Kopp; great grandchild, Naomi Kopp; stepsons, Stephen and Chris Langley and their 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Hillside Christian Church on Wednesday, August 18th at 11am, with a visitation held one hour prior. Burial following at White Chapel Cemetery. Flowers or donations may be sent to the church.
