Our angel on earth, Peggy Chastain, 92, has departed this world on July 8, 2026 and left it much more wonderful than when she entered it, but all left behind are saddened.

She is proceeded in death by her husband of 53 years, Thomas Lewis Chastain, her daughter Judith Dean (Chastain) Ferris and a brother, James “Jimmy” Coleman. She leaves behind her brother, Bill (Sandie) Miller, 3 sons, Terry Lewis Chastain, (Della Chastain), Rex Dwayne Chastain, (Michelle Williams) and Jeffrey Alan Chastain, (Kandace Chastain). There are 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Born in Fair Play Missouri on February 11, 1934, Peggy married the love of her life Tom in 1951, prior to his departure for Korea. When he returned, they moved to Kansas City and started their family. Peggy always had time for neighbors and family. They lived in the northland for 30 years, in Liberty for 5 years before settling in Lathrop for retirement. After Tom passed in 2005, she maintained that household as long as she could before moving to Alabama in 2017. She has friends and relatives all across the country that will miss her warm smile and kind words. 

Services will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery on Friday, July 17, 2026, with visitation beginning at 10:00am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00am, and burial.
