Randolph Arthur Faerber passed away on May 5, 2025. Randy was born on New Years Eve 1946 in St Louis, Missouri, to Arthur Frederick Faerber and Rose Sippel Faerber. He was the oldest of four children. His early childhood was spent in Louisville, Kentucky, with the majority of his youth being spent in St. Louis ,Missouri. Randy attended St. Martin of Tours grade school and graduated from Bishop DuBourg High School, in St. Louis, and then went on to attend the University of Missouri both in Columbia and in St. Louis. Randy’s talent with math and attention to detail led him to a career in computer programming, working with some of the earliest IBM computer systems. In his early twenties, he moved to the Kansas City area, where he enjoyed a career as a computer programmer working for TWA Airlines and Sprint.
Outside of his professional life, Randy was a collector at heart. He had an extensive collection of items including fossils and rocks, German beer steins and books to further his inquisitive nature. He also enjoyed photography, woodworking, traveling, and tinkering with cars, both old and new. His favorite car being his 1992 Suburban, which he used for camping trips and for traveling across the country collecting rocks and fossils. Some of Randy’s favorite trips were those to Mexico, Germany, and the western United States.
Randy is survived by his two brothers, Neil Louis Faerber (Karen) of Yankton, South Dakota, Dr. Bruce William Faerber (Norma) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and one sister, Linda Rose Karsch (Bob) of St. Louis, Missouri. Randy is also survived by twelve nieces and nephews and twenty great nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in St. Louis, Missouri, at a later date.
