Obituary

Randy Othel Troyer, 63, passed away on October 12, 2026.

Randy was born on January 31, 1963, in Burlington, Colorado. He attended Burlington Public Schools from elementary through high school. He later moved to Denver, where he continued his education at the University of Denver. A gifted student with a lifelong love of learning, Randy received the highest academic honors while studying journalism, mass communications, and history.

Randy’s professional career began early. While still in high school, he went to work for KNAB Radio, beginning what would become several years in broadcasting. He remained with KNAB through 1988, and in 1984, he also began working for KDVR FOX31, where he served as a film editor and master control engineer. He also worked briefly for KLMR before eventually pursuing a new career in insurance.

Randy began working alongside his sister at Chubb Insurance, where he worked as a commercial underwriter. He later transitioned into auto insurance, working for Prosurance as an adjuster and agent. After gaining years of experience and expertise, Randy founded Troyer Insurance and Tax Service in 2003, a business he proudly operated for many years.

Away from work, Randy enjoyed the things that brought him closest to the people he loved. He was a devoted Denver Broncos fan and an avid fantasy football player. He enjoyed spending time in nature and fishing. An animal lover, Randy also shared a special bond with his faithful companions, his dogs, Bronco, Tater and Rusty. Above all, he cherished time spent with family and friends.

Randy had a willingness to help anyone in need. His wonderful sense of humor and quick wit had a way of putting a smile on the faces of everyone around him and beyond - especially through social media.

Randy was preceded in death by his sister, Laura Lu; son, Richard “Rick” Troyer; and father, Jimmy “Jim” Troyer.

He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his mother, Geraldine “Jeri” Troyer; sister, Jamie, and her husband, David Cummings, of Missouri, and their family; nephew, Joseph Cummings of Missouri; niece, Nicole (Alex) Hawn, and great-nephew, Charles Hawn, all of Kansas; grandson, PFC Dakota Troyer of Fort Carson, Colorado; and many extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Randy’s Life will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Terrace Park Funeral Home.
