Obituary

Richard Dean Latier was born on October 14, 1951 in Independence, Missouri. He passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026 in Kansas City, Missouri. At the age of 74, Richard left behind a legacy of dedication, passion and cherished memories.

Richard spent over three decades working for Hilton Hotels, where his commitment and professionalism left a lasting impression on colleagues and guests alike. His career was a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication to excellence.

A devoted sports enthusiast, Richard's heart belonged to the Missouri Tigers, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Royals. Whether cheering from the stands or watching from home, his love for these teams was unwavering and brought him immense joy (and sometimes great sorrow) throughout his life.

Richard also had a deep appreciation for the great outdoors. He found peace and happiness in fishing and camping, two activities that allowed him to connect with nature and create treasured moments with his brothers. Two of their favorite fishing sites were Truman State Park and Bennett Springs, both in Missouri.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Jerry; as well as his brother, Tom. He is survived by his brothers, Mike, Don (Kim), and Pat (Karen); sister-in-law, Vickie; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 15th with visitation beginning at 10:00am, funeral at 11:00am, and graveside following.

May Richard's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and loved him.
