Ronald Edwin McCormack passed away on September 15, 2026.

Ron was born on September 14, 1944 in San Francisco, California. As a young boy, he moved with his parents to the Kansas City area, where he would make his home and build a life filled with family, hard work, and the things he loved.

He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School and went on to build a long career in aviation. Ron worked as a mechanic for TWA for 37 years before continuing his career with American Airlines for another six years. A coworker would ultimately play an important role in Ron’s life when they set him up on a blind date with Chong Kim. That blind date turned into a lasting love, and Ron and Chong were married on July 6, 1978. Together, they took advantage of his airline service, taking many trips to destinations like Hawaii.

Ron was a man who enjoyed working with his hands and could often be found tinkering with or repairing just about anything with two wheels. He especially loved motorcycles and enjoyed riding, including many group rides over great distances and every type of terrain.

When he wasn’t working on something or out for a ride, Ron enjoyed watching golf and Chiefs football, reading, and watching a good Western. He was also a man of faith and attended Vineyard Church for many years.

Ron will be fondly remembered by his wife, Chong; children, Rhonda (David) Cole, Richard (Nancy Rempala), Lynda Plummer, and Mike (Stevanie) McDonald; eleven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 26, at Terrace Park Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the celebration service at 11:00 a.m.
