Samuel “Randy” Randolph Thompson, 73, passed away on March 16, 2026. He was born on June 30, 1952, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Samuel Sr. and Melba (Sourwine) Thompson.

Randy graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1970 and briefly served in the United States Air Force Reserves. He went on to build a long and dedicated career in the railroad industry, a path that brought him to Kansas City. Randy devoted 45 years of service to Union Pacific Railroad before retiring in 2012.

While in Kansas City, Randy met the love of his life, Donna Iske. The two were married on February 17, 1973, and shared 47 years together and were blessed with two children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Donna; and his sister, Beverly Milam.

Randy is lovingly remembered by his children, Bryan Thompson and April (Mike) Schulte; his grandchildren, Keirstyn Kennedy, Kyleigh Kennedy, Brayden Thompson, Ava (John) Beaver, Adyson Thompson, Lucas Schulte, and Wyatt Schulte; and his great-grandchild, Fallyn McPhee, Farrah McPhee, Forrest McPhee, Montana Beaver and Myra Beaver; sisters, Diane DeJean and Linda Ardese; and many extended family and friends.

A private family burial will be held at Terrace Park Cemetery.
