Sandra Theresa
King
Mar 1, 1945 — Jul 27, 2026
Kansas City
Sandra Theresa King, 81, passed away on July 27, 2026.
Sandra was born on March 1, 1945, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She attended Westport High School, where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, John King Sr. Together they built a life centered on family and were blessed with two sons.
Throughout her life, Sandra worked in a variety of positions, with the majority of her career spent in the hotel service industry.
Sandra was a woman who knew what she wanted and lived life on her own terms. She had a passion for traveling, especially to the southwestern United States, where she found beauty in the landscapes and developed a fondness for Native American art and décor. She loved music and dancing, enjoyed watching movies—particularly classic films featuring the stars of Hollywood's golden era—and had a habit of enthusiastically spoiling the endings with anyone who would listen. Sandra was an excellent card player, especially when it came to bridge and blackjack. She also had a special appreciation for lighthouses and her favorite animal, the moose - collecting many mementos that reflected her love of them.
Above all, Sandra loved her family. Whether spending time together at holidays, celebrating life's milestones, or simply enjoying each other's company, those moments meant the most to her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 60 years, John King Sr.
Sandra is lovingly remembered by her sons, John Jr. (Suzanne) King and Anthony "Tony" (Shannon) King; her grandchildren, Jessica (Jeremiah) Peterson, Lacey (Ryan) Torgerson, Haley King, Jason (Kayla) King, and Jordan (Paige) King; her great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jackson, Saylor, and Rylee; brothers, Timothy Shawn del Villar and Christopher Lee James; nephew, Xander Carassi del Villar; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Thursday, August 6, 2026. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. A Reception will follow at Liberty at Shoal Creek, 8800 NE 82nd St, Kansas City, MO 64158.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Sandra's memory.
