Obituary

Sandra Nadine Sims, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on August 21, 2026.

Sandra was born on January 16, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas, where she graduated from Wyandotte High School. She briefly attended college before setting out to explore the many interests, opportunities, and careers that would fill her life. True to her adventurous spirit, Sandra was a true jack of all trades.

Sandra was creative, artistic, and always full of energy. She had a natural eye for merchandising and loved collecting beautiful and interesting things. Her collections included antiques, baskets, pottery, books, and countless other treasures that caught her attention along the way.

Never one to shy away from a new adventure, Sandra's life included a remarkable variety of experiences. For a brief time, she owned a bar and an auto shop. She loved cars and proudly drove her very own Corvette and motorcycle. She enjoyed watching sports of all kinds and could often be found watching a game. She also loved watching birds and appreciating the world around her. Her musical tastes were just as varied as her interests, ranging from Pink to old gospel music.

Sandra lived life on her own terms, following wherever would lead her. In 1995, she met the love of her life, Eva, and the two were married on August 21, 2017. She is survived by her beloved wife; her siblings, Michael Sims and Sue Gardner; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Louisa; and her baby brother.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at St. James Lutheran Church, 1104 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64118. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia, Missouri.
