Scott Allan Boyum, 54, of Kansas City, MO passed away on August 28, 2021.
Scott was born on March 27, 1967 in Aurora, Illinois. At an early age his family moved to the Kansas City area where he graduated from Park Hill High School. Scott had a passion for helping his community. Scott started out working for the Platte County Fire Dept but found his calling as a police officer. Scott began his deputy career at Clinton County Sheriff's department in 1996. While in Clinton County, Scott has a dual role as the acting police chief of Trimble, MO. After three years of service, Scott started his 22 year career as a deputy for the Clay County Sheriff's Department. While at Clay County Scott wore many hats, including but not limited to DARE officer/instructor, Road Patrol, Taser instructor, and as a sergeant in the detention center. Scott was a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America and as an adult spent many years as a Scout Master/leader for troop 271. During his free time, he enjoyed camping, riding his motorcycle, which included taking trips to Sturgis and listening to classic rock.
Scott is preceded in death by his mother and step father, Lillian and Jim Thompson. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 26 years, Diane; children, Kelsey and Douglas; many extended family, friends and beloved pets, Pneuma, Triton, Sanghie, Turk, and Kaida.
A memorial celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, September 7th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, with a sharing of remembrances at 7:00pm.
