Sharon Gilmore, born on June 25, 1945, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, leaving behind cherished memories for all who knew her.
Sharon was known for her giving nature and was always quick to lend a helping hand and do for others. Though quiet and reserved at first, those who took the time to know Sharon discovered a kind, sincere, and thoughtful woman whose friendships were deep and lasting. She was honest and true to herself, yet always considerate of others, offering her opinions with grace rather than imposing them. Her spontaneous sense of humor, often revealed without her even realizing it, brought joy and laughter to her family and friends. Sharon’s sincerity, integrity, and gentle nature were among the qualities that made her so deeply loved.
One of Sharon’s greatest joys was cooking, and her kitchen was where she most naturally expressed her love. She was a wonderful cook, and through the meals she prepared, she brought family together around the table. Sundays spent at her parents’ home, surrounded by hers and Carole’s families, became cherished traditions, filled with familiar faces, good food, and togetherness.
A devoted wife, Sharon met Robert at work, and their relationship grew from companionship into a deep and lasting partnership. They shared 39 years of marriage, building a life grounded in love, companionship, and devotion to their two beloved daughters. Together, Sharon and Robert created a home filled with love and a family whose bond was evident to all who had the privilege of knowing them. With Robert’s career at TWA, travel became a cherished part of their family life, and vacations and adventures together created memories that last a lifetime.
After marriage she spent many years as a wife and mother before returning to work after her girls were older. She spent those years supporting her family and doing for them, with activities such as a lunchroom attendant and girl scout leader. Sharon always shared a special bond with both of her daughters. She treasured the years she spent traveling and sharing daily life with Amy, who was by her side in her final years, providing an extraordinary gift of unwavering love and care. Sharon was deeply blessed to have very close by her daughter Cindy, who like her mother was always quick to lend a helping hand, and her husband, Craig, who was the son she never had. They provided Sharon endless support, nurturing love and standing beside her through every obstacle and joyous moment.
Sharon treasured her role as a grandmother. She was a constant and loving presence in the lives of her grandsons, caring for them from infancy through their early school years and welcoming them into her home each morning and afternoon as they grew. Her home was a place of comfort, routine, and love, and the bond she shared with her grandsons was extraordinary. She was endlessly proud of the young men they became, often reminding them, and anyone who would listen, what good young men they were. To her grandsons, Sharon was far more than a grandmother; she was a cherished and irreplaceable part of their lives.
The loss of her father, husband, and mother within an 18-month period brought immense grief to her life. Yet, her compassionate nature led her to join the St. Joseph’s Women’s Group at Holy Family to give a bit of comfort to others going through what she knew so well. Her comfort came from the friendships she forged with Jean Anch and Dee Beerup and their many adventures together. They were her dearest friends and closest confidantes and with them, she found a rare and treasured friendship built on trust, understanding, and a bond that remained deeply special throughout her life.
Sharon is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Gilmore; and her beloved parents, Byron and Hazel Davis.
She is survived by her daughters; Amy Gilmore and Cindy (Craig) Corda; grandchildren, Evan and Reece Corda; and sister, Carole (Donald) Creason, as well as many other family and friends.
Sharon will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the honor of knowing her.
The family kindly request all please dress in casual attire.
