Thomas Michael Schneider

d. June 7, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas (Tom) Michael Schneider on the evening of Friday, June 7th, 2024, at the age of 60, after a valiant fight against lung cancer.

Tom was born March 5th, 1964, in Jefferson City, MO to Robert Melvin & Lora Lucille Schneider. Tom was the youngest of seven and spent his childhood and high school days in Maroa and Oreana, Illinois. Although Tom spent most of his days in high school working, he still made time for ornery pranks, such as the time he and his friends built a contraption to launch car tires over the school flagpole. Tom had a deep passion & love for cars, especially his 1969 Mach 1. After high school Tom spent two summers traveling and working on the wheat harvest. Shortly thereafter, Tom moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he met the love of his life, Susie. Tom was a proud father of 3, and loved watching his daughter Caiti, and sons, Aaron and Joey play their respective sports. Tom was an avid cheerleader and supporter of his children and his beloved Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.

When asked about his legacy, Tom stated he wanted the following: “I want to be remembered as a good husband, a good father, and a good person”. Tom excelled at all three. In his free time Tom loved being with family, friends and his dog Rosie. On the weekends you could find him around the firepit or out boating and floating on Smithville Lake.

Tom was always known as a hard worker & retired from the City of Gladstone after 10 years of service. It was because of this hard work, and love and respect earned from his bosses and coworkers, that the City of Gladstone deemed the day of his retirement, May 1st, 2024 as “Tom Schneider Day”.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his older sister Patricia Walters.

Tom is survived by his wife, Susie Schneider, children; Caiti (John) Koch, Aaron Schneider, and Joey Schneider, his dog Rosie, 5 siblings; Paula (Sue) Phillips, Pamela Morgret, James Schneider (Julie), Kimberly Varady (James), Lucinda Harper (David Cook), 3 grandchildren; Emmett, Sawyer, and Paetyn; sister-in-law, Sharon Bussinger; and 13 nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give thanks to Kansas City Hospice especially his hospice nurse Robin Welsh. Flowers or donations to Kansas City Hospice in Honor of Tom would be welcomed.

A celebration of life will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery on June 14, 2024, with visitation beginning at 10:00am., service at 11:00am. Burial will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice.
