Timothy Joseph Svoboda, 61, went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 11, 2023.
Tim was born on December 27, 1961 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was one of five children born to Joseph and Carole Svoboda. They lived on the family farm where Tim learned the value of a hard work ethic. After graduating high school and attending Kirkwood Community College, he began his long career in the petroleum industry. It was while he was employed at Pennzoil that he relocated to the Kansas City area. He worked his way up from driving trucks, to managing warehouses, to excelling as a territory sales manager. Tim was a dedicated salesman for the last 23 years for PetroChoice. It was in Kansas City that he met the love of his life, Cheryl, and the two were married on July 1, 1995. Tim was described as the “ultimate family man.” He took great pride in spending time with his family and loved taking trips, going fishing, riding bikes, hiking, or having fun with family traditions. Tim also enjoyed watching football, growing a garden, and critiquing fine liquor with his Whiskey Club friends. Tim was very devoted to his faith. He was a proud member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was involved with both the church choir and the Knights of Columbus organization.
Tim is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Svoboda. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife, Cheryl; children, Joshua, Madeline, and Joseph; mother, Carole Svoboda; siblings, Anne (Steve) Ausdemore, Randy Svoboda (Liz Belgard), Deb Epp, and Connie Svoboda (Jim Tielebein); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church (919 NE 96th St, Kansas City, MO) on Monday, April 17th. A rosary will be prayed at 4:30pm, followed by the visitation from 5-6:30 pm. A Catholic mass will be held at 6:30pm. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery on Tuesday, April 18th at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Tim to the Bishop Sullivan Center (6435 E Truman, Kansas City, MO), Holy Family Catholic Church, or Cancer Action
