Kansas City

Vicky Pearl Cain, 74, passed away on June 14th, 2023 in Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by her loved ones.

Vicky was born on September 2nd, 1948 in Independence, Missouri to parents Louis N. Whitehead and Elma "Deanie" (Merchant) Whitehead.

She graduated from Truman High School in Independence in 1966 and went on to become a dental assistant where she met her husband, Steve, who was an Orthodontist.  After having their first child, she became a homemaker for many years for her four children.  During her time as a homemaker, she always kept busy attending her children's numerous events such as soccer games, dance recitals, gymnastics meets, swim meets, etc.  Her family was her whole world. She loved being part of school events where she excelled as a room mom extraordinaire. Vicky was known for being the official birthday and party planner, always making sure everyone else was taken care of and having fun.  Her organizational skills and attention to detail ensured that everything ran smoothly, making sure that everyone who participated felt appreciated.

Her red hair matched her fiery personality which was evident in how she always went all out decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas, where she would put out six Christmas trees and countless ornaments. She was an excellent cook and baker, and her family has precious memories of making sugar cookies together during the holidays, something they looked forward to doing every year.

Vicky's outgoingness shone brightly through her love of family vacations, such as their most memorable and favorite trip to Hawaii. Family get-togethers were extravagant affairs that she poured all her creativity into. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate someone special in her life. Her kindness, generosity, and concern for others was extraordinary.

Vicky is preceded in death by her parents; Aunt Vi and Uncle William of Sherman, TX; and grandmother, Mary Pearl Lavisa (Smith) Whitehead. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of 49 years, Steve Cain; children, Sara (Kurt) Dorrian, Emily (Chris) Bornheimer, Beth (Nicole) Cain and Bradley Cain, grandchildren, Rylee Bornheimer, Emma Dorrian, Brinley Bornheimer, and Ella Dorrian (AKA the other redhead); cousins, Jimmy and Billy (Carol) Pfeiffer; sister-in-law, Jerre Walterscheid; and many extended family and friends.

Vicky will be laid to rest at Terrace Park Cemetery.
