Virginia Fay Cruz, 84, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on February 2, 2023.
Virginia “Ginny” Rucker was born on September 14, 1938 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Ernie and Virga Rucker. Her family moved to Missouri when she was a child. She graduated from Central High School. She married John Cruz on September 26, 1980. Virginia held various full time and part time jobs throughout her life, but most notable she spent 20+ years as a supervisor for Safeway. When she wasn’t hard at work she enjoyed entertaining her loved ones, serving her infamous homemade tacos, watching Chiefs football, and swimming. She even taught all of her grandchildren how to swim in the family’s backyard pool.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and son, Nick Cruz.
She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of 42 years, John Cruz; children, Bill (Crystal) Britton, Stephanie (Bob) Cahill, and Robin Stuteville, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery on Tuesday, February 7th, with visitation beginning at 1:00pm, followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm, and concluding with the graveside service.
