Obituary

Wanda F. Perkins, a cherished member of her community and beloved wife, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026. Born on February 6, 1934.

Raised in Halfway, Missouri, before relocating with her family to Springfield, she completed her education at Central High School. Demonstrating a passion for learning and a pursuit of excellence, Wanda furthered her studies at Maple Woods Community College, earning an associate’s degree in aviation.

Wanda's early career began in Kansas City with the American Can Company while she pursued her dream in cosmetology, eventually opening her own business. Her professional journey extended to prominent roles at TWA and Hallmark, culminating in her retirement from TWA as a skilled jet engine mechanic.

Her personal life was graced by her marriage to Gary Perkins, the love of her life, with whom she shared 45 wonderful years. Wanda’s devotion to her family was evident in everything she did. Known for her radiant smile and kind heart, she was a woman who embraced independence and hard work. A perfectionist by nature, Wanda took pride in caring for her home, found joy in cooking for her loved ones, and relished the art of preserving memories through carefully crafted photo albums. Her talent for arranging flowers brought beauty and warmth.

A woman of profound faith, Wanda was a charter member of Jerico Missionary Baptist Church, where her spiritual commitment was a cornerstone of her life.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Tennie Wrinkle; her daughter, Deborah Burch; stepson, Gary Perkins Jr.; 3 brothers, Richard Wrinkle, Carl Wrinkle, and Donald Wrinkle; sisters, Norma Hansen, and Wasolee Sewell.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Perkins; Stepdaughter, Laura (Kevin) Imlay; grandchildren, Melanie (Chris) Rooney, Mykelanne Imlay, and Alec Imlay; 7 great grandchildren; siblings; Dorothy Loftis, Janice Smith, John (Carolyn) Wrinkle, and William (Linda) Wrinkle.

Her life will be celebrated with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. on April 10, 2026, at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri. This will be followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m., with interment to take place at 12:45 p.m. at the same location.
