Wayne Fischer

Wayne Arthur Fischer, 89, of Gladstone, MO passed away June 5, 2020.  A visitation service will be held at 2pm on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Terrace Park Lakeside Chapel.

Wayne was born on September 4,1930 in Racine, Wisconsin to Edward and Florence Fischer. He graduated from Westport High School at age 16. He served in the ROTC his last 3 years of high school becoming a Cadet First Lieutenant. Wayne was drafted into the United States Army at 21. He spent 8 weeks in basic for infantry and then 8 additional weeks of basic for artillery forward observer. Wayne became a Flash Ranger and helped start the Green Berets for the United States. He spent 2 years in the Army and additional 6 years in the Reserves. During his military career he met the love of his life and married Donna, and they raised 3 children and were happily married for sixty-one years until his beloved passed in 2015.  Wayne and Donna loved to travel and go dancing together whenever they could get away. Wayne followed in his father’s footsteps and went into Lithography. Wayne took a two-year break from lithography for the military once he was honorably discharged, he went back into Lithography with Burd & Fletcher; Became head of the biggest 6 color press and stayed until retiring. In his spare time, he loved being outdoors working in the yard.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Florence Fischer, wife Donna Fischer, sister Carole Geier and brother Edward Fischer as well as a precious grandson Christopher Piburn. Wayne is survived by his children Diana Fischer, Richard (Lisa) Fischer, Denise Boone (Fischer), brother Jerre Fischer and grandchildren Robert Fischer, Nicholle Baskerville, Kyle Fischer and Kaylee Fischer. He will be missed by all.
