Wilbur Jones

February 26, 1934 — November 9, 2019

Wilbur “Dale” Jones, 85, of Kearney, Missouri passed away on November 9, 2019. Dale was born on February 26, 1934 to Wilbur and Etoile Jones in Montreal, Missouri. After high school, Dale joined the U.S. Army where he served for two years as a gunnery sergeant. During this time he and wife, Freda relocated from Kansas City to military bases in Texas and Alaska. They enjoyed their time in Alaska so much that even after they had moved back to the Kansas City area they returned many times. They also enjoyed traveling to Europe, Australia, Mexico, and Hawaii. Dale was an incredibly hard worker. He worked as a manager in the Material Handling Department at Ford Motor Company until his retirement. He also ran a farm, along with his son, Ron, selling hay. Dale is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Freda; and sister, Mary Beth Jones. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his children, Ronald (Andrea) Jones and Barbara (David) Starr; grandchildren, Christina (Jess) Hughes, Shannon Starr, and Joshua Boyers; and great grandson, Owen. Visitation will be held Thursday November 14th from 6-8pm at Terrace Park. Funeral held Friday November 15th at 10am, burial following. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) or Ascend Hospice (783 NE Anderson Ln, Lee's Summit, MO 64064).
