William Ott

William Ott, 62, died peacefully in his sleep Tues, Sep 28th, 2010 due to heart failure.  Bill was born in Philadelphia, PA on Jan, 17th, 1948 to Paul and Mildred Ott.  He joined the Air Force in 1965 and worked as a communication technician.  He worked on the E4 companion plane to Air Force One, and after 21 years of service, retired honorably as an E-7 Master Sergeant.  Bill and Cherri (Jackson) were married Aug 25th, 1968 in Amarillo, TX relocating multiple times during his service.  On Nov 30th, 1971 their son Jason was born.  After separating from Cherri in 1989, Bill met and fell in love with Nancy Jennings whom he wed on March 3rd, 1990 in Omaha, NE.  Nancy had two small children, Bryan 11 and Lindsey 9.  In 1996 Bill and Nancy moved to NJ where much of his family resided.  After nearly 5 yrs in NJ, the family relocated to Kansas City, MO.  In 2007, Bill entered into early retirement from MCI because of his heart condition.  Since his retirement Bill has become very active at Vineyard Church, volunteering his time and energy to the church and his family.  Bill considered Vineyard his spiritual home and worked in the Children's Ministry, Prison Ministry, teaching adult classes, and participating in Bible study through small groups.  Bill was passionate about praising and serving his Savior.  He will be dearly missed. Bill was preceded in death by his father Paul Ott and sister Paula Funk.  He is survived by his wife Nancy, children Jason, Bryan, and Lindsey, mother Mildred, sisters Loraine, Lois, and Debbie, and grandchildren Cameron, Kelsey, and Lana.  A memorial picnic and military salute will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Oct 10th at Sailboat Cove on Smithville Lake.
