Mainquist, WinifredSep 27, 1925 - Oct 23, 2010Died peacefully in Kansas City MO. Winnie was born in Wisner NE. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Alfred Mainquist.  Her life was devoted to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker.  Winnie supported Al's career, moving several times where she formed many lasting relationships and her home was always welcoming to family and friends.  Her love of reading led her to establish the Great Books program at St. Peter's School to bring classic literature to young adults.  Winnie never missed an opportunity to play a game of cards, take a trip, or cheer on the Broncos.  She loved all things Irish and had a deep connection to her Catholic faith.  Her great sense of fun and her wit and humor will be missed by all who knew her.  She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Alfred Mainquist, brothers Mart and Hugh McGill,  sisters Helen Goodwater and Mary Ann Major, and son-in-law Ron Whately.  She is survived by her children and their spouses, Margi Mainquist, Mark and Cindy Mainquist, Kathleen and Mike Smith, Dan Mainquist her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brothers Dick and Ed McGill, sister Addie Schmitz, and numerous extended family.Mass of the Christian Burial 11:45am Saturday October 30, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church 919 NE 96th St. Kansas City, MO. visitation Saturday 10:30am-11:30am at the Church. Burial  Ft. Logan Cemetery, Denver CO. Memorial gifts may be made to The American Cancer Society in memory of loved ones.Mt.
