Carol Lauf

Carol Ann (Smith) Lauf, 77, died October 23, 2020 at her home in Kansas City, Missouri after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2020 from 2-4pm at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th Street, Kansas City, MO at the main chapel. Her funeral service will be held at 10am on Monday, November 2, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 919 NE 96th Street, Kansas City, MO with burial following at Terrace Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Lauf was born on December 13, 1942 in Ainsworth, Nebraska to Everett and Irene Smith. She was raised on a working cattle ranch and was quite a horse lady. She was married to Gary McCormick October 1, 1960. They raised two sons and two daughters. They also operated a very successful entertainment center in Burlington, CO. Carol moved to Kansas City in 1985. It was there that she met and married her present husband, Donald. The two were united on January 25, 1987. Together, they operated a small truck company and a tax preparation business. She was very active in supporting her church and helping anyone that needed support. There was hardly a time that anyone would wonder where she was from, as she always was sporting Nebraska gear. Most people called for her by saying, “Hey, Nebraska.” Carol was one of those special people that come along only once in a lifetime, such a beautiful lady in so many ways.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Lauf Sr.; two daughters, Sonia (Donald) Coates of Kearney, NE and Brandi (Nick) Giauque of Highlands Ranch, CO; two sons, Gerry McCormick of Idaho Falls, ID and Bruce McCormick of Westminster, CO; adopted daughter, Debbie Graham of Hot Springs, SD; step-daughter, Frances Lauf of Kansas City, MO; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carol’s name to Holy Family Catholic Church, 919 NE 96th Street, Kansas City, MO, 64155.
