Delores Scheerer

Delores M. Scheerer, 89, passed away on August 18, 2021.

Delores was born on August 4, 1932 in Cimarron, New Mexico to Joe and Manuelita “Mary” Duran. She was married to Malcolm Donald Chisholm from February 1950 until 1956, when he passed away while serving in the U.S. Air Force. From this marriage they had two children. During this time, she lived in Rocky Ford, Colorado. On New Years Eve in 1958, she remarried, Richard Lee Scheerer. From this marriage they had four children. Delores took great pride in caring for her large family and would spoil them with her delicious Mexican and German dishes like runzas, enchiladas, homemade tortillas with beans and rice, and golf ball soup. She especially loved the holidays and always made sure to bake dozens of cookies for the special occasion. Delores and Richard enjoyed spending time listening to music (especially Elvis) and dancing together, until Richard passed away in 2006.

Delores is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Malcom Chisholm; husband, Richard Scheerer; and son-in-law, Mike Smith.

She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Diana Drennan, Gary (Debra) Chisholm, Alan (Maria) Scheerer, Steve (Suzie) Scheerer, Wayne (Sonia) Scheerer and Kim Smith; grandchildren, Wendy Pritchard, Nathan (Geanna) Chisholm, Nicole (Danny) Halpin, Jordan Scheerer, Garrett Scheerer, Alyssa Scheerer, Cameron Scheerer, Nicholas (Anna) Scheerer, Lauren (Danny) Scheerer, Joe Smith and Hannah Smith; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Bertha, Emma, and Susie; and many extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, followed by the celebration of life at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery on Saturday, August 28th at 2:00pm. Burial immediately following the service.
