Dennis Brown

December 29, 1952 — March 13, 2021

Dennis Nelson Brown, age 68, passed away on March 13, 2021 in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri. Dennis was born to Cecil and  Helen (Nelson) Brown on December 29, 1952, in Kansas City, MO.

Dennis graduated from Southeast High School in 1971 and later obtained an associate degree in apostolic ministry.  He worked for Hallmark and Bendix (now Honeywell FM&T) among other jobs. In 2021, Dennis celebrated 40 years of service at Honeywell FM&T with multiple high level awards, one from the Vice President of the United States. His final title at Honeywell FM&T was Specialist Senior Engineering Tech in the Science and Engineering Lab.

Dennis earned his Eagle Scout in 1967 and has always been proud of that accomplishment. He was also a graduate of ROTC, a marksman on the high school team, a part of the Fort Osage Muzzleloaders Club as a junior member, and enjoyed kickboxing, fishing, and hunting.

Dennis has two children from a previous marriage: Susan Brown and Joshua Brown. He married Julie (Rogers) Brown in 1997 in Kansas City, MO, and had Nathan Brown in 1999.

Dennis and his wife, Julie, have always been involved in youth ministry  and have a passion for teenagers and kids going through hard things. It was never surprising to see a student stop by to chat or for a teenager to call and talk things out. Dennis loved animals and struggled to keep their home at a two-pet household.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Julie, of 23 years, his daughter, Susan, of Gardner, KS; his son, Joshua (Heather) of Waxahachie, TX; his son, Nathan (Lindsay) of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Cody, Cameron, and Emma; sister, Marcia, of Renton, WA and multiple nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Helen Brown, a sister, Dana, and a niece, Carrie
