Donald was born on February 26, 1943, in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Donald and Lee (Gardner) Bell.  He was a graduate of Park Hill High School and attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.  From a young age, Donald was an avid golfer who was renowned by many as the best in the Kansas City area; he was the winner of the KC Match Play Golf Tournament twice and holds a record that will most likely never be equaled as he qualified for the championship flight of the Kansas City Match Play in 6 different decades.  He qualified for the U. S. Amateur and received a three-year sponsorship for the PGA Tour before being drafted into the U. S. Army.  Donald served in the Korean Conflict and attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant before being honorably discharged after three years of service.

After his father’s passing, Donald took over his family’s masonry business.  He met his soulmate and love of his life, Dorothy, and they were married on July 24, 1976. Donald and Dorothy had an exceptional marriage until her passing in 2005.

For the last several years, Donald worked together with his son, Matt Bell, at Bell Masonry, where he continued working until his final days.  In addition to golf, he enjoyed fishing and reading, but his favorite thing in the whole world was being a loving, doting grandpa to his grandkids.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy.  He is survived by his two sons, Kevin Roepe (wife, Lisa) and Matt Bell (wife, Amber); grandchildren:  Jackson, Jillian, Reagan, Ruby, and Rhett; sisters, Connie Bell-Gustafson and Elizabeth Mohler (husband, Kent); brother, Roy Bell; and several nieces and nephews.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
