Doris Severn

Kansas City

Doris Charlene Severn, 84, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully on May 24, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late James Lonzo and Gladys Irene Moorehouse on April 17, 1938 in Lakeside, MO. She was the 8th of 12 children.

She graduated from Carthage High School in 1956 and married the love of her life, Leonard Ray Severn on June 02, 1960. She was a long-time resident of Platte City, MO and most currently, North Kansas City, MO. She was a member and Elder of the Platte City First Christian Church. Charlene was also a member and officer of the Do Si Doers square dance club.

Charlene often enjoyed traveling worldwide with her family and friends to more places than this space allows. Charlene loved to go for a drive, square dancing, and visiting with folks. She was a talented seamstress that made many beautiful square-dancing outfits.

Charlene is preceded in death by her parents and siblings.

Survivors include her husband Leonard; her two remaining sisters: Helen Stiffler of Wade City, MO, and Mary Jean McCombs of Kansas City, MO; children: Susan (Christopher) Severn Britton of St. Thomas USVI, Charles (Jeanne) Severn of Kansas City, MO, and Shelley (Craig) Niesen of Parkville, MO; three grandchildren: Joshua (Angela) Watson of St. Thomas USVI, Tim Brown of Excelsior Springs, MO, and Kelly (Niki) Lipford of Sarasota, Florida; as well as two great grandchildren: Dustin Watson, and Harper Watson of St. Thomas USVI.

The Family would like to thank Interim Healthcare of Overland Park KS for the incredible help. Especially to RN Monica/Melanie.

Memorial Service 3pm Sunday May 29th at the Platte City First Christian Church with picnic to follow at Platte Ridge Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
