Dorothy Gray

Dorothy Ann was born on March 31, 1946, in Atlantic City, NJ to Thomas and Dorothy McGough. She was the eldest of four children along with sister Diane and brothers Thomas Jr. and Robert.

Dorothy passed in Kansas City, MO on the evening of Friday, March 13, 2020. She was 73 years young.

Dorothy attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School and Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia, PA.  Dorothy graduated in 1967 with a diploma in Nursing from the Germantown Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia.

In 1967 Dorothy moved to Oklahoma City, OK where she was employed as a Registered Nurse with the Saint Anthony’s Hospital System. In her 30 plus years at St. Anthony’s she served as staff and charge nurse, clinical supervisor, case manager and intake coordinator.

She married Hugh F. Gray in 1986 and lived in Oklahoma City until 2001 when they moved to Juneau, AK. There she worked as a staff nurse and in the post-operative care unit at Bartlett Regional Hospital and later as a school nurse within the Juneau School District.

She and Hugh moved to Kila, MT in 2010 where they retired. She remained a registered nurse in Oklahoma, Alaska and Montana.

Her husband, Hugh passed in June of 2016 in Kalispell, MT.

She is survived by brother Thomas McGough and his wife Denise of Princeton, NJ, son Shaun Gregory and his wife, Tricia Suellentrop of Kansas City, daughter Angela (Gregory) Jackson and her husband Jeff Jackson of Kansas City, and son Erick Gregory and his wife Belinda Kanpetch of New York City and her granddaughter, Otis-Gray Gregory. She also leaves behind her much-loved canine companions Lady and Mr. Tubbs.

Dorothy loved her animals, the outdoors and experiencing nature. Her family and friends were her most cherished relationships as she spent many hours visiting or conversing on the phone with them.  She was thrilled to be a grandmother and spent numerous hours reading and enjoying Otis' company.

A small ceremony with the immediate family was held on March 19.  More extensive celebratory services will be held at a future date.
