On Wednesday, June 3, 2020, James Hanley Dailey, husband and father of four children, five grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, went home to be with his Heavenly Father at the age of 93.

Jim was born on February 9, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to James Dailey and Fay (Stokes) Dailey. As a toddler, he and his brother went to live with their maternal grandparents in Henrietta, Missouri. Upon graduating from Henrietta High School in 1944 he enrolled at the University of Missouri. In 1945 he enlisted in the United States Airforce and was stationed in Gaum where he was a Military Police. Jim returned to M.U. and graduated with an MBA in 1950. Jim moved to Kansas City and began his career in accounting at Arthur Anderson before moving to Long Construction Company. He received his Certified Public Account in 1959. In 1962 he moved to Thomas McGee and Sons where he was Comptroller at McGee and Sons until he retired in 1992. In 1964 he received his Masters of Business Administration Degree from University of Missouri- Kansas City. On September 17, 1955 Jim married Johnnie Mae Kimbler. They raised two daughters, Vicki and Teresa, and 2 sons, Daniel and Timothy.

Jim was an avid reader his entire life. He loved to read history books and the Bible. He was an athlete and a great competitor- something he passed on to his children. He was a member of the YMCA and one of their best handball players. He was also a great fast pitch softball pitcher. Jim coached his church teams and played into his 60s. He also enjoyed travelling. Every summer the family would take a two week vacation that he had meticulously planned out. We travelled all over the United States, Canada and Mexico. Later in his life he was able to visit Teresa in Germany and Austria. He was very involved in Discipleship at the Kansas City Baptist Temple where he was a member for 60+ years. He enjoyed teaching others about discipleship and this allowed him to go to Romania, Taiwan and Argentina. He even took lessons to learn Spanish and Chinese. Jim was a life-long student who loved learning.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, James, his mother, Fay, his oldest son, Daniel and niece, Brenda Kay. He is survived by his wife Johnnie, his three children, Vicki (husband John), Tim (wife Lesa), and Teresa, his brother, Parker (wife Jean), five grandchildren, Mandi (husband Lance), Alesia, Micah (wife Gwen), Samantha (husband John), Cassandra (husband Mark), as well as seventeen great-grandchildren, a niece, Ruth Ann and a nephew, Brian.
