Joseph Arthur VanCleave Jr, 71, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on June 1, 2022.
Joseph was born on August 5, 1950 in Platte City, Missouri to Joseph Sr. and Clara “Jean” VanCleave. He graduated from Platte City High School and soon after enlisted in the United States Navy. During his time in the military Joe travelled all over the world and spent a significant amount of time stationed in San Diego and Charleston, South Carolina. He proudly served in the Navy for 23 years and retired as a Master Chief Radioman. He began his second career with Norfolk Southern Railway where he worked for 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling - especially taking cruises – reading and spending time with his family. Joe is preceded in death by his parents and aunt, Joanne “Jojo” Morris. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of nearly 27 years, Bonnie; children, John Anthony VanCleave and Jean (Danny) Bock; grandson, Cameron Dupont; great granddaughter, Amelia Dupont; brothers, John Orville VanCleave and Jack VanCleave; and many extended family, friends, and beloved pets, Wiley, Sissy, Muffin, and Peekaboo.
