Joyce McCrery

Joyce Ann McCrery, 87, of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away on Sepember 29, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Lawrence Willard Jones and the late Beulah Ester Longenbaugh.

During Joyce’s lifetime, she wore many hats. One of her most valued tributes was her love of cooking. She owned two restaurants, one of which was located at the local flea market. There were people who would visit the flea market, just to be able to experience the fine taste of her pies and cobblers. She enjoyed cooking for her family at every holiday dinner. Joyce was known for serving others. She would do anything for anyone and took time to care for those that were in need, leaving her doors open to all. Her personality was eccentric , and her creativity was phenomenal. She would sew dresses for her nieces and helped to clothe people during their growing years. Her work ethic was strong, leaving her with wonderful ideas that could’ve taken her to many places.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Clarence Bowen; her first husband Martin Wesley McCrery; two sons: Charles McCrery and Gerald McCrery; and three sisters: Donna Munson, Carol Taylor, and Linda Gannaway.

She is survived by her son: Larry (Sheila) McCrery; daughter: Rhonda Schroeder; sister: Judy (Kenny) Fry, and stepdaughter: Barbara Bright; 11 grandchildren; more than 30 great grandchildren; and numerous great great grand children.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Ray County located at  200 S College St, Richmond, MO 64085.

Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Located at 13109 Highway O, Excelsior Springs, MO. 64024, on Saturday. Visitation will be from 9:00am to 10:00am with the service to follow at 10:00am. Burial at Smithville cemetery in Smithville, MO. There will be a map provided to guest at the services to help with finding the location of the cemetery.
