Leona Sissel

November 25, 1932 — May 17, 2020

Leona Evelyn (Tilford) Sissel, 87, went home to be with her Lord on May 17, 2020. She had been a resident of Oak Grove Nursing and Rehab Center in Oak Grove, Missouri, at the time of her passing. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm on Friday, May 22, at Terrace Park Funeral Home, with a graveside service to immediately follow at Terrace Park Cemetery.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Crossroads Hospice.

Leona was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1932 in Davis City, Iowa.  She graduated from Kellerton High School in Kellerton, Iowa at the age of 22 after initially leaving school at age 16 to go to work.  She married William Keith Sissel on July 30, 1955.  Leona had several jobs over the years:  housekeeper, store clerk, childcare provider, factory worker; but her longest and most important job was Mother.

Leona enjoyed reading, flowers, crocheting, sewing, and holding her grandbabies.  She had been a member of several different churches through the years and loved to sing and play the tambourine at church.  She eagerly looked forward to seeing her Lord and King, Jesus Christ.

Leona was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Mae Roberta Tilford Quigley Bowen; two brothers, Lester Leroy Quigley and Raymond Lee Quigley; and one sister, Roberta Jean Quigley Wion.  She is survived by her husband of 64 years, William Keith Sissel; two daughters, Victoria Young (Dennis) and Lorelei Horn (Gary); four sons:  Doyle Sissel (Cheri), Darrell Sissel (Melinda), Darwin Sissel, and Gordon Sissel (Rachelle); 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one sister, Kay Owen (Bill).

Leona will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.
